Maharashtra
Maharashtra is a unique amalgamation of diversity & culture which reflects in its arts & crafts. From the rustic Kolhapuri Chappals to the world famous tribal wall Warli paintings, from the 2000 years’ old Paithani Silk Sarees to the beautiful Bidriware, they all depict its rich culture and heritage. The Paithani saree takes almost 6 months to a year and a half to weave. The Narayan Peth Sari from the Sholapur district is designed with the contrasting zari border mostly with rudraksha motifs. The state is also known for the famous Mashru and Himroo, luxurious fabrics which look like golden cloth, they were used by the nobles in the earlier days. The Sawantwadi crafts which include traditional lacquered ware were introduced since the 17th century. The Kolhapuri saaj is a traditional handmade neckpiece made with 21 leaf-shaped pendants and golden beads. Every art of Maharashtra has a unique story of its own.
