Apart from being a popular tourist destination, Madhya Pradesh is also famous for its exquisite and rich heritage which can be seen in its art and craft. Bamboo is found in abundance and hence the bamboo crafts are popular amongst the tribes for making household articles. The beautiful and colourful woven woollen carpets depict the Persian art passed on from the Mughals. The Chanderi saris made from Chanderi fabric (combination of cotton and silk) are popular saris with rich golden borders. The state is also famous for its hand blocking Bagh prints. The Batto Bai dolls from Gwalior are rustic dolls made from bamboo, paper and rags. The Zari work is a traditional craft of delicate embroideries done with metallic threads and is used to make products like jutties (shoes), purses, bags, dresses and more. The other noteworthy crafts of Madhya Pradesh are Folk Paintings, Iron and metal craft, Jute handicrafts, Terracotta crafts, Stone carvings, Papier Mache, Dhurries, Ornaments and Jewellery.
