Famous for its silk fabric, the Muga Silk, naturally golden colour, is considered one of the finest silk in India. Bamboo and Cane are grown in abundance and hence they are a part of the culture of Assam and most of the household items are made from these natural products since ages. Mask making is an integral part of their culture, traditionally used in religious dance and drama. The Kumhars and Hiras are the oldest potter communities of Assam. The Hira community make the pottery products without using the wheel. The Assamese paintings are traditional paintings depicting mythological events and stories
